A Decade of Demonstrating Volunteerism

Posted 01/28/2019 by Kimberlee Sinclair, Director, Global Communications

H.B. Fuller’s corporate responsibility is inspired by our dedication to giving back to our communities around the world. In 2018, for the tenth year in a row, we demonstrated our commitment to service through our Make a Difference employee volunteerism campaign. In 2018, over 1,200 employees in 15 countries came together to donate more than 4,900 hours of volunteer service – impacting more than 4,100 community members. As part of the Make a Difference campaign, employees are empowered to choose the local community needs they want to support. This year’s 44 projects included renovations and landscaping at local nonprofits, food drives, establishing community gardens, environmental restoration efforts, enrichment activities for children in need, and donations of school supplies, among many others.

H.B. Fuller Make a Difference stats from 2018Each year, one volunteer project is highlighted as an outstanding project. The 2018 winner – selected by employees – was the project organized by employees in Guarulhos, Brazil. This was the first year for employees at Adecol, recently acquired by H.B. Fuller, to participate in the Make a Difference campaign. Employees worked with two local nonprofits to bring together children and seniors for a day of cross-generational enrichment activities. In the week leading up to the event, employees also volunteered at both nonprofits, completing needed renovations, and collecting donations of books and supplies. Together, employees contributed 450 hours of service, impacting over 100 community members. The nonprofit organizations that the team worked with will receive a donation from H.B. Fuller.

Our employees’ passion and willingness to serve reflects our focus on corporate responsibility and brings to life our commitment to giving back.
